We arrived in Paris 2 days before our cruise and spent the time seeing the Parisian sites. We didn't realize that lunch was available on board the first day before the ship embarked on our cruise, so take advantage of that. Our ship the River Baroness was lovely, but our cruise was its very last as it is being retired. A couple we were with commented about how small the cabin was, but we didn't feel it was a problem. The food was excellent as was the service. Each night if you did not want an of the three entree choices, there was always a choice of steak or chicken. We enjoyed all the excursions especially the one to the beaches of Normandy and the American Cemetery. There was lots of walking on the tours but they did have a group for gentle walkers if needed. All alcohol was included in the cruise price, so that was a bonus. Each afternoon and evening there was entertainment that was mainly someone playing a keyboard. It was my first river cruise and I discovered that I like river cruising. It is because I am shy and loved that everything was planned; we had a guide who spoke French whenever we were out and about and our tours were all organized for us and we had choices each day as to what we wanted to do. I loved that the ship was our hotel room and we did not need to move from place to place. Can't wait to go again.
