This was cruise #69, we are in 60's cruising since 1984. We sail several lines and honestly are unhappy on what cruising has become. An airline corporate operation at sea. Business model now find a new thing to charge for, eliminate, or raise price of daily! That said, this ship better than most! Baltimore great for departing from. Grandeur staff EXCELLENT. This would have been a 5 rated cruise id they hadn't changed the menu in obvious attempt to do away with complimentary dining. Don't look for much meat, steak a joke 1/4 inch pad of meat. No meat some nights and everyday meat item two, small as a roll, sliders? GEEZ! Lobster, I though small rock lobster was tiny no idea where they got these. Tail literally size of a silver dollar! Never saw anything like that. PRIME RIB, sorry we don't have any menu incorrect. NO prime rib? Of course steaks, lobster, I am guessing real ones available for 29.95 and up PLUS 18% additional gratuity. SAD SAD SAD. We were told that ship heads spent three hours at a meeting about new menu being lousy and so many complaints. We were also told that menu might be changed again in January.
Cruising benefit WAS, dining included and no driving people crazy deciding where to eat etc. People from various financial situations being able to cruise together with additional costs entering in planning for daily activities.
Everything else was great, Staff always wonderful, dining staff apologetic for menu that's how you know really bad. Love ship size, ship in good shape, not brand spanking new but character and clean! But sadly when you make digging into my pocket an hourly occurrence, when you make everything a decision that all must agree too, when you eliminate the cigar bar, and make what I consider faux art an entertainment event you have lost you way.
Within walking distance to ship nice historic offerings.
