My mom and I decided to take a very last minute cruise on NCL's POA. When I say last minute, I mean, I called on the 20th and got the LAST cabin available for the cruise leaving on the 22nd. My mom is 62 and I'm 43. If I were to guess the average age of the guests on the ship, I would say around mid 60s. We had cabin 7570 which is an obstructed ocean view.
I was pleasantly pleased with pretty much all aspects of the cruise. The embarkation went very smoothly. We checked in at the desk around 11am and were on the ship by 11:30. We received beautiful leis and a warm welcome! Rooms weren't ready until around 3pm.
What I really liked about embarkation was once you are on the ship, there is a bag check location so if you brought on small bags and don't want to have to hang on to them while you're trying to grab lunch, you can check them until about 2:45. We took advantage of this and it was very convenient. I think other cruise lines should definitely have something like this!
Cabin Review
Obstructed Oceanview
Cabin was adequate. The view was definitely obstructed by a huge life boat, but if you stood on your tippy toes, you could see the water. We didn't mind the view, or lack thereof, because there were so many activities on the ship. The bathroom was tiny, and the shower was super small which I hated, but what are ya gonna do?! It's a boat! Plenty of storage space for all your things- Tons of space for toiletries, clothing and bags!
