We chose this cruise for the ports. It is very port heavy 5 in a seven day cruise, which only is really six because of leaving San Juan Sunday at 10pm. The service in the dining room for early service first two nights was really slow and food did not seem up to what we were used to on other Carnival ships. Actually my melting cake was just warm chocolate cake, (no melting involved). Was told that by the third day it was better but we went lido buffet after that. Buffets were not set up for long hours like we were used to either..don't know if that is just on this ship or have to do with Carnivals cutbacks. If it has to do with Carnival cut backs this is a very bad decision on Carnivals back. They have raised their prices and cut back in many areas that many people enjoyed. Never cruised on anything other than Carnival but may have to spend a little more money and see what the real comparisons are. The Fascination seemed just a little boring. We also had two excursions cancelled, so we headed into ports with nothing planned. This is why we do not normally do Carnival excursions. Do not like to head to a new place with nothing planned and not knowing what to do. The workers on this ship do not seem as friendly as most. Room stewards and a drink waiter in the casino are the only ones that called us by name the whole cruise.

Balcony

Cabin 8D

Cabin was okay. Two overhead bunks that were up out of the way, but squeaked during the night.

Port Reviews

Barbados

We booked off of Carnival for this port with Sail Calabaza Excellent time

San Juan

Explored this port before the cruise. Old San Juan forts and the views are very good. We have also been to the Bacardi Rum tour another time and enjoyed that.

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

We got a taxi and went to a beautiful beach, Reggae beach I think it was called. It was absolutely beautiful and not real crowded. We rode jet skis, snorkeled, and paddle boards. A great day. There was food and drinks also available here.

St. Maarten

Our excursion through Carnival also got cancelled in this port. So we got a Taxi and went to Maho beach where the planes fly right over the beach and land at the airport. It definitely is worth seeing. But beware of the food prices at the main restaurant on this beach.
