Halloween treat

I was invited to join my son and his family on a Disney cruise. Travelers were his DW, son age 4, niece age 12, his DSIL and DMIL. They purchased balcony rooms which to be honest I never purchase. I rarely stay in my stateroom so I really never felt the need. I arrived in the Cocoa Beach area Sunday Via shuttle they pre-booked for me. At this point I must say I paid for my parts of the trip. It was nice having someone else do the planning for me, as a retired travel counselor I got to see the other side of things.

Our 1st night was at the Best Western Cocoa Beach Hotel and Suites great. I had a full suite which I really didn't need to myself but I wanted to be pampered and they did that. Because I use a cane for stability they drove me to my building and handled my luggage. Wonderful service! We went to lunch at Pelican's Bar & Grill located right on the Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier. Food was very good but the wait was long so be prepared. They seem to always be busy. After a short nap and walk on the beach the remainder of our group arrived and we had dinner at Tokyo Japanese Steak house. We celebrated my DS's birthday here. Great food, we all love sushi and we were not disappointed. The chef entertained us cooking at the grill in front of us. Price is a bit high but it was worth every cent. A must if you spend time in the area.

The Disney Dream is a beautiful ship and I enjoyed the part where we were announced to the general population as we boarded. Boarding went smooth and quick but we had to wait for our staterooms until 1:00pm. We were onboard by 11;30 so we chose to have some lunch and look around. The kids were really into finding characters. The buffet was one of the better buffets I have seen with cold shrimp and crab-legs and sushi, a family favorite.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah

Cabin 06A

The cabin was a nice cabin but 3 people ran into each other frequently. I was the unfortunate soul on the couch. I have to take medicine to sleep and I really needed it. I struggled nightly trying to find a comfy position. The price one pays for traveling with others.
