Overview
This was a first time river cruise for us and were attracted to it by the presence of Martin Bell and John Simpson relating their experiences of reporting for the BBC on the unrest and war events that have covered the Balkan region through the last 25/30 years. We travelled from Budapest to Bucharest through five countries and as a consequence of their presentations had significant added value to all of the shore excursions which were varied, interesting and very relevant. It thus provided us with a more in depth understanding of the history of this region and considerably enhanced our enjoyment of the cruise.
The Ship
The cabin size was generous with a large comfortable bed, leisure seating and ample space above storage draws to layout maps, brochures, etc. and there was adequate storage for clothes. Above all the daily service from a friendly and efficient steward was excellent.
