Sail Date: Oct 2016

We have been on 5 of the Thomson cruises in the last 3 years and I have to say they have all been good. Up until now. So why. Well we have been on the Majesty before and yes it is an older ship. But to board a ship that was listing by quite an amount is to say the least off putting. After about 4 hours it had been rectified. So on board the ship is getting tired. The chairs on deck are old and uncomfortable. The pool has a miss mash of tile repairs all around it. The pool wasn't always filled. (2 days empty.) But worst of all a fire on board in the engine control room. This left us stranded at sea after only 2 days into our cruise. Power went to the engines first after 2 hours of leaving port. Then at 9.30pm all power was lost and we were left only with emergency power so nothing worked and this included the toilets which was not good. All the toilets were overflowing within a few hours. Power was eventually restored after about 6 hours so managed to limp back to the port we sailed from by morning. This was after being told by the captain everything was ok and would be sailing on to the next port of call and would not be any delay. So back at Livorno we were told we would get the repair done during the day and would set sail that evening and would unfortunately miss out Corsica.

Well the evening came and went and eventually told we would not sail that evening but would sail next Day for Marseilles but this could still change. So Next day came AND went as we still had to have the ship signed off for sea worthiness. So eventually though we were meant to sail the following day at 10am we left at 12.30pm now missing out Corsica and Marseilles and heading straight for Barcelona all day and night arriving at Barcelona at 12.30pm on the last day of our cruise.

So now been offered a sum of money as compensation worth about 15% of the price of the cruise. Don't think that's much of an offer of compensation.

Cabin Review

Cabin outside plus

Paid a little extra for outside plus. Would not say big but comfortable and clean
