We chose this cruise because we had always wanted to visit the Maritime Provinces of Canada, and it had been quite a while since we had been in New England, so this seemed to fill the bill. We have sailed on Princess many times and were happy to find a cruise that reacqainted us with our northern Atlantic coastline, explored the Canadian Maritime Provinces, and as a huge bonus, traveled down the St. Lawrence Seaway and offered a whole day in Quebec City!
The Princess meet-and-greet at LaGuardia was not up to par. A throng of us milled around looking for the Princess rep(s) with sign(s), asked around, and finally found 2 reps taking names in the middle of the crowd. After an hour-and-a-half wait, we boarded a bus; 8 passengers were left curbside--unacceptable. We found later that they waited another 1/2 hour for transportation. Once we got to the pier, embarkation went fairly smoothly.
Although the Caribbean Princess is a beautiful ship, it could use a facelift and some maintenance/repair: Broken tiles in the bathroom, dust collected in the corners of the room, loud grinding/creaking noise when tenders were launched or the apparatus was worked on (several times), and vibration of the ship.
We always enjoy the mini-suite staterooms on Princess. The mini-suite has plenty of storage and room to spread out and relax. However, the balcony, although it is a nice size with 2 chairs, 2 footrests, and a table, has no roof/cover. (I love the mini-suite stateroom, but I hate the grand class ships' open balconies. All the balconies above overlook the mini-suites with balconies, so there is no privacy).
There is a nice, pretty boardwalk to walk right by where the cruise ship docks. We walked the streets of the town. There were some historic sites/buildings to see. Found the people to be very nice.
Only flew in and took the transfer from the airport to the pier.
In Boston Princess provided a shuttle for $15.95 a person to go downtown and back. So we enjoyed Quincy Market and also did the HarbourWalk. It is a lovely picturesque boardwalk along the water, right downtown.
