This was our third time on the Summit doing the same cruise to Quebec and back from Cape Liberty. Embarkation was easy as well as disembarkation. I love sailing out of Cape Liberty both for the Teardrop park and the Statue of Liberty, etc. We always have someone drop us off at the port. I have seen negative comments on this ship but I must say that is not what I see. Younger people see things differently. Generally most cruisers are over 50 and yes with canes, walkers, wheel chairs and scooters but each is treated with respect. There are couples with special needs children too. My husband who uses a walker is always helped on and off the ship and treated with respect in the dining room (we are in Blu since we did aqua class). This cruise was ahead of hurricane Hermine and yes we hit some rough waters and fog but had a great time. Since we all don't have the same taste, at times some food might not meet with our approval or a show isn't exactly what we want but that isn't to say that is the way it is for others. We always have breakfast delivered to our cabin and have lunch in the buffet. Never a disappointment with either.

Since this was our third cruise to Quebec on Summit, we only did two excursions. I alone did the double decker bus in Quebec (one of the best tours I ever had) and the horse and buggy in Charlottetown and then walked around the town. That was amazing too. I did the Harbor Walk in Halifax; do it if you can; it was beautiful. We both did the lobster boat in Bar Harbor which was interesting but it was in the fog. We both did the train ride and lobster lunch in Portland which was disappointing. We didn't realize how much walking was involved from the ship to meet the train and then from where the train dropped us off for lunch to get us back to the ship. The train ride was extremely short. The lobster lunch was so so. This is not for a person with a walker, wheelchair or scooter. We have done other tours in Bar Harbor and Portland other years which were great. Each night we would enjoy our dinner and then off to a show. I must add that if I have the opportunity, I hope to do the cruise again in two years but next time in October to see the changing colors (which we did two years ago). One more important thing: at one of the ports, the Captain got off the ship and shook everyone's hand that got off the ship; and on 911, they did a tribute which was touching. Happy Cruising.

Cabin Review

Aqua Class

Cabin A2

The only issue we had with our cabin was a blocked shower and sink at the beginning of the cruise. The shower ran over in the bathroom area. We called and it was immediately cleaned up and both were unblocked and that was the end of our problem. The cabin and bathroom were always clean and it was nice to see the chocolates on our pillows at night. We enjoy sitting on the balcony when in port. Luckily most ports we were on the land side so we could see everything going on.
