This cruise was all about relaxing for us. From the moment we arrived at JFK, our trip was as smooth as can be expected. Traveling with my two teen sons and not knowing if we could catch a taxi with all of our luggage, I arranged for a driver, which was great. We used the service recommended on NCL's website and were pleased with the price and the service. Once we arrived at the pier, NCL staff moved us smoothly through checking in, and there was a fairly short, completely reasonable, wait. Setting sail out of New York past Lady Liberty was stunning. Our cabin was a bit small for 4 adults, but we knew that when we booked. We did not expect to spend much time in the cabin but Mr. contracted Lyme disease this summer and needed more rest than expected. We know to plan accordingly. Three days at sea is new to us, but we found that we really enjoyed just chilling in the sun. Unfortunately, a guest fell ill and had to be medi-vacked (?) to shore. NCL handled the situation professionally and kindly, with great consideration for all. We were rerouted to Tortola instead of St. John, which was a bit disappointing. We had been to Tortola years ago, and were saddened to see that while it was more modern, it seemed poor. We understand, but it was not what we expected. We took an excursion, which was okay. The dining was excellent, as we have found on NCL. We did not visit any of the specialty dining rooms as the food was so good in the regular dining spaces. One of my favorites was the Asian dining room's desert, tea ice cream. Disembarkation was fine. It's never fun, but all the lines moved quickly. We arranged to use NCL's transport to the airport in Puerto Rico, which was just fine. Overall, the ship was very nice, staff was very nice and accommodating, and the entertainment was very good. We are already looking forward to planning our next cruise!
I would not chose this configuration again. We have been on several cruises, and this was the most awkward when the additional beds were set up.
