We chose this cruise because we were looking for a younger crowd, and we liked the destination ports since we had not visited those before. I've been on the Carnival Sensation and the Allure of the Seas prior to this cruise.
Even though the ship was built in 2010, the inside of it looked like it had been constructed in the 1990s. The interior was an ugly teal color and everything stank of cigarettes. The "destination" spots such as the nightclub, arcade, Red Frog Pub, Captain's Table, and Piano Bar were very nice and contained modern amenities, but there were only two tiny pools, and 6 small hot tubs (always full because the pools were so small). The staterooms only had three 120v plugs for two people, none of which were by the bedside, which is a problem when you use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea and also want to charge your cell phone. The ship also rocked a lot. It was fairly windy (~32 km/h winds), but the water wasn't to the point where whitecaps were appearing, but man the ship really moved under you. I'm glad I don't get seasick.
The dining was fantastic. The food was delicious every night and Arsenio was the most enthusiastic waiter ever. We checked out the Captain's Table for an additional $15 upcharge, and while the food was good, it wasn't any better than the included meal plan. The overall service was pretty good, and all of the staff and crew were genuinely friendly and helpful.
Went Scuba Diving with North Coast Dive Center. Fantastic experience.
