We selected this cruise for the itinerary and specific ports. We believed Oceania was in the luxury category, and the Riveria would be a lovely ship with excellent food and service, even though the entertainment would be limited to that of larger cruise lines. We arrived at the cruise terminal and check in went quickly. However, there was a considerable walk to the ship over gravel with carry on luggage. We had no idea it would be a small hike to the ship, as we have never experienced this with any of out other cruises. The ship looks tired and in need of renovation, including cabin. The pool area is very small. The food was awful, unappealing, warning signs of undercooked meat everywhere, wait staff, with the exception of two, were unpleasant, boarding on rude, and in the buffet, would swoop down to clear your plates without even asking if you were done, and while your other guest was still eating .. They would start to turn off lights while people were still eating and room was still full so the could shut the buffet down. There was no personal service the entire trip, with the exception of the 2 wait staff and our steward. Destination services rude and unhelpful and advised an excursion was cancelled. Port cancelled due to weather and they could not get us into another port so we had to rock at sea for 24 hours. So disappointed by the entire Oceania experience and would never go on their cruise line again or refer them to anyone.

Cabin seemed tired. Bedding needs to be replaced. I will say the actual bed was excellent. The bathroom was lovely. The veranda needed to be maintained, chipped paint and large dents in railing.

Port Reviews

Rome (Civitavecchia)

I did not spend any time this trip in Rome but have in the past.

Portofino

Exquisite! We ate at the Splendid and had an amazing lunch! Lovely little shops and picturesque.

Monaco (Monte Carlo)

The ship's tender was rocking into the boat so badly, I had to get off the tender and elected not to go into the port.

Saint-Tropez

Rain and high seas so this port was cancelled. The ship made no other arrangement for an alternative and we're stuck at sea.

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

Loved this port. Oceania had a bus to take you over to city center and back which was great. They did mention it was a very long walk and recommended taking a taxi if you did not want to wait for their bus which ran every 1/2 hour. We took a taxi back to the port. There was a sign that said Oceania Riveria n the door. There was no Oceania representative there or ant other signage of what direction or where to go to the ship. There was a representative from another cruise line who advised us to go upstairs, which we did, again no signage or info which terminal to go through so we left the port and went back to get the bus at the city center so we could get back on the shop. Shocking the did not have anyone there at terminal or at least proper signage. When taking the bus back we realized that the walk from the port terminal to the ship was quite a hike and I wouldn't recommend it. Taxi's will not get you to the ship.
