This was my 22nd cruise, all of which have been on Royal Caribbean. It was my second time on Splendour.Sailing out of Venice was an amazing experience. Make sure you are on the port side of the ship. Our ports of call were Split, Corfu, Piraeus, Mykonos and Katakolon.Captain Nyseter was excellent and despite strong winds was able to dock us safely at Piraeus. Other cruise lines spent that day at sea instead.Anthony Richards was the Cruise Director and did a great job - well he is Canadian! Fatima Scudiere was the Concierge and was very good and helpful. We had our M&M party after sailing from Split on Day 2 and it was well attended and I won a RCL baseball cap!All the crew were wonderful. When I boarded, I went to the Windjammer and was welcomed by my assistant waiter from my first Splendour cruise in February 2008. Not only did she remember me but she remembered my name. Thank you Flavia - you really made me feel welcome back on Splendour. Grace was the Centrum singer and she also recognised me and said hallo. As I was spending time in Venice, I decided to only bring hand luggage to avoid lugging heavy suitcases everywhere. So, no formal wear or extra stuff. As a result, I only ate in the Windjammer which I enjoyed. Dinner there was always excellent with lots of choice and it gave me more flexibility as to when to eat. There were 18 Diamond members on board and one Diamond Plus (me!) and we had a great time in the Concierge lounge. It really is a nice perk not only for the free drinks but also for the wonderful people that you meet in the lounge. It would be nice however if Royal Caribbean put a coffee machine in this lounge.Split is a lovely town to wander around by yourself. Corfu I also walked around and visited the fortress. In Piraeus, I did the 20 minute walk to the train station and took the train into Athens and walked up to the Acropolis. In Mykonos, we tendered which made it very easy to catch the ferry across to Delos. The trains were on strike in Katakolon so I was unable to get to Olympia so just wandered around the town. Our last day was at sea and it was nice to just relax on the ship.I was up at 5.15am to watch us sail in to Venice and it really was wonderful. Having just hand luggage made departure very easy. This was a fantastic cruise and it was great to be back at sea againandrew
