We very much enjoyed our cruise overall. There were slight problems at first but out housekeeper quickly corrected everything and was very attentive to our needs throughout the journey. Yanti is a great housekeeper and very considerate of myself and my mother who was celebrating her 75th birthday.
The ship seemed old and has some definite drawbacks and design flaws that create discomfort at times. Participating in the picture opportunities required walking by the casino and tolerating the smoke which I dislike very much, having quit smoking just over 6 years ago. The air quarantine equipment either does not exist or is pitifully sub-standard. Our stateroom was 1 room in the hallway from the atrium on deck 9 (9275) which acted as a funnel sending the smoke down the hallways and all through the ship.
The roll call meet and mingle was a disappointment. I can't put this all on Carnival, and would not want to. The Activity Director joined us and said the Cruise Director was scheduled to be there but was called into a meeting. He was personable and informative. He said that on the previous cruise there was a gathering for which not a single CC member attended. We had only 8 attendees and 2 of them joined us because they saw the sign but they had not signed up. Carnival failed to advertise the gathering at all and I would have missed it if I were not a diligent reader of the FunTimes Cruise Critic and the CC members are wasting their resource by not exerting the considerable power of 50 members on a cruise offering constructive suggestions for improvement. It seemed that the whole affair was set up for failure and it took considerably more effort than a "valued customer" should exert while trying to be helpful.
TOO SMALL!!! This room was significantly smaller than our last balcony cabin on Carnival Magic. It was so small that it created problems. We enjoyed the balcony much more this time than last because we made it part of our living space. It was one of the only places on the ship that was smoke free (when our neighbors were not violating policy).
