My girlfriend and I chose Cunard's Queen Victoria for our eastern Mediterranean cruise last summer. The choice was based on the amazing port itinerary, Cunard's strong reputation, and reasonable value. We definitely did not go wrong.
The ship is beautiful. Elegant, understated, classy, perfect for the kind of cruise we were looking for. A nice size ship, big enough, but small and intimate, and easy to navigate. The adult-only pool aft is nice, although it can be a bit crowded, as should be expected.
The food was outstanding throughout the two weeks, from the buffet for any meal, to the main restaurant which was lovely, with excellent service, and great meals every time. We also went to the Verandah, one of their specialty restaurants, twice, and had two extremely excellent meals. My former girlfriend now my fiancee took me to the Verandah for afternoon tea. This was also delicious, fun, and really amazing experience. Even the poolside burgers and fries were good, nothing fantastic, but plenty good.
The cabin was fine. No better or worse than could be expected for a standard inside cabin. Everything exactly as you'd expect.
