I chose the Rhine Cruise as my birthday present, and because I wanted to revisit some of the places I had been to in the 80's. Air travel to Basel and from Amsterdam was tiring as it required 2 plane changes and a 4 hour layover each way. However, my flights on British Airways were very comfortable.
The ship was very nice, small (200 passengers) and offered an intimate experience with the other passengers and crew. All the meals were excellent; but the dinners were superb, with great appetizer, entree and dessert selections. During the afternoon gatherings in the lounge, the chef would describe each item being presented for dinner. Several evenings the ship still docked, so I was able to have dinner in town. The other evenings the ship was cruising during dinner which offered great scenery. The scheduled excursions into the city/town/village were excellent and very organized. The ship's crew were always very engaging, energetic and happy to assist with anything I needed. I am looking forward to my next cruise in 2018.
Cabin was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The heated floors in the bath room and shower were an unexpected surprise and were wonderful. The cabin was directly below the reception area. Very noisy when the Reception Staff walked across the tile floor in heels and when cleaning crew wheeled the vacuum cleaner across the floors early in the morning.
Guide was member of the ship and the walking tour started around 4 PM. Once in the pedestrian area of the town, I left group and wandered around on my own. Had dinner in town,
