This is our third cruise with CMV, and overall a very enjoyable experience. The staff, without exception, were wonderful and went out of their way to to be helpful. The food and service in both the Raffles buffet and Waldorf restaurant was excellent. Our two waiters were lovely and even prepared a light meal for me to take to the cabin when my husband was not feeling well enough to come to the restaurant. A great feeling of camaraderie on the ship, also down to Katy, the cruise director, who had to step into the role at short notice. Katy, Jordan and Raol gave one hundred percent in their performances although we did not like either the comedian or the double act Stage Door Johnnies... the material was old and tired and was pitched at people that were older than the majority of the audience.

We had a problem with our cabin which had a loud vibration which made it impossible to sleep, so we were offered another cabin. This was on the top deck, and there was also a lot of noise from the awning that protected the sunbeds which had broken. Eventually the maintenance crew managed to stop it by wrapping towels around it.

I think the only criticism would be that the ship needs a general maintenance overhaul, and also there are not really enough seating areas on sea days either in the lounges and particularly in Raffles buffet at meal times. It is good value for money compared with other cruise lines and we will certainly be booking with CMV again.

Cabin Review

Cabin suite

We were lucky enough to be upgraded due to problems with our original cabin. The suite was excellent, particularly liked the walk in wardrobe. Beautiful large comfy beds and a sitting area. It also had a roomy balcony which we did not take advantage of due to the weather although it could be a problem for some as the rooms are on the same level as the lifeboats and you don't necessarily get an uninterrupted view. Our cabin steward was excellent and so was the standard of cleanliness... towels were changed several times a day! We are certainly tempted to book a suite for our next cruise.
