We decided on this cruise because my partner friends were going on this trip, so we decided to come along. I was reluctant because I was not thrill about the ports and shore excursions. I had previous been to all the location except one, but this would be my first time sailing on Royal Caribbean mega ship Oasis of the Seas so I agreed to go. Given the time of the month we were sailing hurricane season, it further my apprehension. Unfortunately Hurricane Mathew diverted our pre-cruise plans to spend time in Key West Florida however we made it on time for our cruise. The time of embarkation was extended to allowed for guests held up. We were lucky that we were able to board at our regular time.

Boarding this mega ship was nothing like I envision everything was smooth, timely and orderly. On the entrance to the ship I was immediately taken back. I thought I was at a seller of products convention. There was no grand foyer to behold as I have previously seen on other ships. I was shock at everybody trying to sell something it was terrible to encounter this on your vacation home away from home. Imagine yourself walking into a 4 to 5 star resort and the foyer is filled with sell people aggressively pursuing you. This was the first impression upon entering Oasis.

We preceded to our cabin. The cabin was adequate nothing special. I had an ocean view balcony next to the elevators on the 11th floor. It was clean. The decor was plain, towels cheap, soap 1 or 2 star versus and skimpy. I brought my own. I was expecting something a little more cheerful and perhaps colorful, not the case. The bed was comfortable. I kept telling myself this was a cabin on a ship. Our room attendant was excellent, very attentive and a beautiful disposition, in fact with a few exception most of the staff were great dining room staff, bartenders. I ran into a few disgruntled employees but they are no match for me. They soon melted.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D6

Average, The cabin size was expected being on a mega ship, small but manageable. The balcony was beautiful. Being next to the elevator was a plus. Very quiet, next to the library and the private Diamond Lounge (members only).

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We stayed at the Hilton hotel. A very nice hotel with a beautiful view overlooking the marina. working. Only one complaint the hotel did not have any operating vendor machine Came in late at night be watchful of the cab driver pricing. A very nice area close to the cruise port. Lot's of good restaurants and store in the area.

Falmouth

Did a tour of Montego Bay with a private cab driver. Stop and had drink at an old plantation - Rose Hills Inn interesting. The cab driver was very good and knowledgeable Had been there a couple of times so I knew some areas.

Labadee

No tour of Labadee. Nothing to see. The only things cultural was talking with the vendors, We weren't able to leave the area.
