We chose this cruise because of the embarkation port, ports of call and cost. the total cost was $5,122.00 for 2 people in a veranda room with insurance and air fare from boston to rome. celebrity was offering $1,000.00 off the air fare in this booking. we booked the cruise through vacations to go and also received a $200.00 on board credit. we have made over 35 cruises, 16 with celebrity. the food, service. Ship and itinerary met all our expectations and the standards we expect from celebrity. the tour of taormina in sicily was excellent. we took the transfer only and toured on our own. we took the same type of tour to cassis, near marseilles, france. this tour was to far and only allowed about 1 hour to tour he town. there were some minor items to note and one major item.

Celebrity offers to mail luggage tags if requested on their web site. we requested them on the last 4 cruises we took with them but they never arrive. we have to print the one in the cruise book you can download from their site. the main problem with this is that the printing is on plain paper. they can't even hold up from the dock to ship. 50% of our bags had to claimed at guest services because the tags ripped off. better to have porter make out a tag at the dock.

Be aware of a nuisance that now occurs in the life boat drill. if you get assigned to the theater, some one in their wisdom decided that we need to be treated like children when leaving. they make you sit in your chair and dismiss you by calling out rows starting from the front of the theater. this created an angry scene on our cruise. The center section was held in place but the side sections weren't. the poor staff took so much verbal abuse that they backed off a third of the way through the process.

Deluxe Veranda 1B

Cabin 1B

Typical for this class ship, the rooms lack adequate storage. There are three small draws. The only other storage is the bins above the bed for items you don't hang in the closet. They should have looked at the old Galaxy they once had. That ship had the best storage we have ever had. The showers lack a hand held spray. The rest of the room is average but adequate. Bed was comfortable, color scheme pleasing.

Port Reviews

Rome (Civitavecchia)

Nothing special. Just a cruise embarkation port for us.

Positano (Amalfi)

Pleasant port to walk around. Quaint shops.

Villefranche

Nice stop. Lots to do in town within walking distance.

Corsica (Ajaccio)

Quiet little port.

Florence (Livorno)

Good port. Lot's to do. Plenty of shopping.
