We chose this cruise because we have never been to Half-Moon Cay, Dominican Republic, and the Grand Turks. We also chose this cruise to celebrate our October 11 anniversary. We sailed on the Carnival Freedom 2 times in the past 5 years and were totally satisfied. This cruise was not up-to our expectations.

We ate at the 6pm time on the upper Minot level and the dining servers were the best--Nahor, hear waiter, Jovan and Nejadine. They deserve an EXTRA RAISE for their service. They remembered our names every night, they knew what we wanted to drink every night, they were overly helpful and very polite.

When it came to the actual food, it was not at all up to Carnival level. The meats were either over or under-cooked, the desserts were not as expected--the pies were over-baked, the molten chocolate dessert was under-baked (terrible), the flan was over-sugared, etc.-- the appetizers were terrible--the shrimp cocktail was not shrimp cocktail, the stuffed mushrooms were smothered with some kind of unusual sauce, the salads were not salads--the vegetables were under-cooked and not a good variety--we had to ask for butter and sour cream every night for our baked potatoes--the lobsters were totally over-cooked. Overall, the food was not at all up-to-quality for Carnival!!

Head Steward, Kokoa, did an excellent job keeping our cabin clean and in order. He gave us whatever we asked for. He remembered our names every time he saw us. There were several repairs that needed done in the cabin, but that was not his problem. The ship is getting old and needs a lot of repairs.

Port Reviews

Grand Turk

We didn't do any excursions. We just went to port and looked around the shops and had a coke at Jimmy Buffetts restaurant.

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

The embarkation and debarkation were great. The port people were very prompt and courteous.
