This was a good cruise and we enjoyed it lots. But there were nagging faults and irritations throughout and these, for us, prtevented it from being very good.
Lots of positives - great stopping places, lovely weather, charismatic (almost to a fault!) captain and wonderfully obliging, friendly and talkative crew, who seemed more willing to engage and talk than we have found on other lines. Great enrichment events - especially the wonderfully-led Improvisation and drama skills sessions and the stunningly good Spanish string duo who delighted all those lucky enough to see them - in most cases accidentally, since they were not well-publicised.
Some very impressive evening entertainment from a couple of British musicians and another couple of American comedians. Being Brits, we were in the minority and met a wide range of fascinatingly diverse Americans. Many we met because the dining arrangements meant we were constantly on different tables in the Main Dining Room. In itself this was good BUT the organisation was haphazard, at times chaotic with queues and, at times, long waits to eat despite tables standing empty. The standard of the food in the main dining room was disappointingly variable and the service at times very slow. The waiters were doing their best but there was an unmistakable sense of too few staff at dinner, just as there was an unmistakable sense that drink prices had been racked up beyond a reasonable premium.
More than adequate - not too small - great shower - lovely comfortable bed. Brilliant cabin steward - with equally brilliant colleagues who responded to our needs if he was otherwise engaged
explored independently and had a great time

As stated above, we attempted to use the liner-organised shuttle and were hugely disappointed by the expense and disorganisation. Exploring independently, we had a great time.
