We chose this cruise because of the history and the ports of call. We got to visit many UNESCO World Heritage sites. The crew of the Viking Atla was excellent. The food was outstanding. The included shore excursions were great. It was nice to leisurely cruise along the Danube. We loved the scenery in Germany, Austria and Hungary. We were in Budapest for a national holiday and sat on the top deck watching the fireworks. This was an added bonus. The entire staff made us feel welcome.

This was our first river cruise and we didn't know what to expect. Although there aren't as many activities there is still plenty to do. The entertainment consisted of a piano player. He was outstanding. With fewer passengers than on an ocean cruise you meet a lot more of them. We met 2 sisters from California at dinner and quite a few people on our land portio of the tour and we hope to stay in contact with them. A river cruise is a much more intimate experience.

Our cabin steward was excellent. The cabin, although on the small side, was very clean. It had every amenity.
