I chose the cruise because of the price. This was only my third cruise and my husband and I wanted to try RC to compare it to the other cruises. As far as the atmosphere and decor of the ship it far surpassed Carnival and Norwegian. The layout of the JOTS ship was easy to maneuver too. The only thing I don't like about cruising is all the extras you have to pay for. The one extra I did like was about the 4th day in, they offered a drink card that gave me 10 drinks with a value up to $12 but I only paid $8 per drink. So the drink card was $80 plus the tip charge. For me, this was a much better way to purchase drinks because I don't drink that much. I would never be able to get the value of a drink package for the price they charge because I just don't drink enough.

The staff was great and the food served in The Tides restaurant was pretty good. Each night their menu is based on various different spices and I found most of the selections appealing. I had plenty to choose from and if we wanted to order more our request was fulfilled without question.

Their late night snack bar was pitiful though. It was after 11:00 one night and we wanted a snack before going to bed so we made our way to the back of the ship where the snack bar was located. They had pizza that had to be frozen, hot dogs, cookies that were hard and tasteless, no fries or burgers and the service was minimal. We only saw one person working the stand and they had no cold drinks.

Cabin E1

Room was cleaned well and the bed turned down each night. Room service was on time.

Port Reviews

Rome (Civitavecchia)

We did our own thing in Rome. Arrived a couple days before the cruise and saw Trevi Fountain, The Spanish Steps, the Coliseum, the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel. These are all must sees!!

Naples

Pompeii is not to be missed. Absolutely amazing!!!

Santorini

The village is picturesque and lots of shops to choose from.

Mykonos

We did our own thing in the port of Mykonos. Took a cab and told the driver to just take us to a nice beach. Not sure which beach we were taken to, but there was a hotel close by named "Hotel Acrogiali". The beach was beautiful and lounge chairs plentiful. In order to use the lounge chairs, the hotels/restaurants want you to buy a drink, which are VERY EXPENSIVE. $20.00 each....so we bought one drink each and there was a little grocery type store close by that sold beer/wine and snack foods so we just bought a few snacks and drinks from there, and we were not hassled at all to buy more of the expensive drinks for the rest of the day.
