Picked this cruise because of ports. Embarkation after flights went smoothly and also disembarkation. However why do cruise companies when you book flights and cruise through them book flights which leave you waiting 8 hours at an airport! Our transport from the ship to the airport was 8.30am and flight was 17.25pm. A bad end to a good holiday.
Pleased with balcony cabin which was comfortable and had good sized bathroom and shower, but storage was not sufficient. There were three of us in the cabin and less storage than on Princess Cruises. Storage above the bed is not suitable for the elderly or less mobile. Cabin and everywhere on the ship was kept immaculate. We ate breakfast and lunch in the buffet restaurant which was busy at times but we always got a table and enjoyed the varied food. We had dinner at the Opus Restaurant at a set time each evening and found the menus varied enough to suit all our tastes. Food excellent and we were well looked after by our waiting staff. Did not eat at any of the other dining venues with extra charges. Some of the shows were really good and some not to our taste which is only to be expected. Overall enjoyed entertainment and activities.
MAIN BAD POINT WAS THE LEVEL OF SOUND OF ENTERTAINMENT AT CENTRUM, LEVEL 3. EXCESSIVE LOUD MUSIC DOES NOT MEAN GOOD. A few decibels less and you can still party and communicate. With the open layout obviously sound could be heard all over. Also Guest Relations Desk is located on this level and it was impossible to hear or be heard. Pointless having desk open when this is the case. (Will be interesting to see in later years if staff claim for deafness caused by excessive noise). Michaels Cabin now restricted access which meant no quiet venue to have a drink and a chat with no entertainment. Did not go on any of the excursions and enjoyed doing our own thing. Walking and exploring. All ports were excellent for this although found Santorini much busier than on previous visits.
Good space in room, bathroom and balcony. Not enough storage.
Took tourist train and it was good to see around town. Following this highlight was the Tower in Duoma Square at 12 noon. Music and automatons were amazing.
Lovely to just walk round streets and sit and have a drink/meal at waterside.
Visited Ephesus before. Enjoyed walk round and then visited the ships. Some passengers found shop owners pushy, but I did not find this. Most were chatty and obviously trying to get a sale, but always polite and cheerful. I do enjoy bargaining and picked up a few bargains. Good that when you pay in euros you now get change in euros. Previous visits some time ago you got change in turkish currency.
Very busy but enjoyed walking round old town and walls.
Beautiful views but very busy. Lovely seafood in restaurants.
Already stayed in Athens many times so just went walk in Pireas.
