We went on Royal Princess Mediterranean cruise on 17 September and embarkation at Athens Piraeus was smooth and speedy, unlike previous experience in Singapore with Sapphire. The ship is huge and really alluring and there were two entrance with friendly staffs welcoming us onboard. Mini-suite was slightly smaller on the Royal but the entire ship is huge and spacious.

Royal Princess is really beautiful, quite and relaxing. Just what we wanted. Room is clean and service staffs were very friendly and efficient. We were disappointed with the quality of food served at MDR but very happy with the buffet so we had our meals there most of the time. Also we were given a table at MDR I think it's located at the end of the ship so it was shaky all the time. And a waiting staff was having really bad BO and it was difficult for us to enjoy our meal. But anyway, it was a combination of food choice, waiting staff, and the table given that we choose buffet for the rest the days. As what was reviewed about Royal, the buffet section is really spacious, comfortable, no queues and with good amount of variety and good quality. We had our dinner once at Sabatini and found it so-so. And we took the stairs some times, never used the gym (too cold there!), and we did not put on weight after 8 days!

Shore excursions with Princess was very well organized. We went on shore excursions at Santorini, Kotor, Corfu, Messina and Elba. Kotor has the most beautiful scene of all the ports that we stopped and we were glad that we've been there. For shore excursion on a Mediterranean cruise, those with motion sickness should bring their medicine as it was quite difficult to cope with the tender and coach went along mountain roads at Santorini, Messina (Mt. Etna) etc. But there's always the medical centre at level 4 and very friendly doctors as well in case of anything and you'll be taken care of.

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Our mini-suite was very clean and comfortable, and we were served with a complimentary glass of champagne by our very friendly housekeeper. Just that the tv connection went off the last night which was a bit unpleasant as I was in the middle of a movie before bed time.

Port Reviews

Athens (Piraeus)

We had a private tour at Athens before embarkation. Went on Acropolis, olympic...it was sunny and crowded but nice!
