The ports were all fabulous as was the weather, but I believe the standards of Celebrity in general have gone down. My husband and I were on Celebrity ships in the past and the service and the food were excellent. This trip, however, I felt that the food and service had gone downhill considerably. Out of 13 dinners in the dining room, I had 4 excellent ones 4 that were good and the rest were so so. I had 1 dinner at the buffet & my steak was charred. I did not have to cook or clean up but considering how much cruises cost, especially for the single traveler, I felt the standards should have been highee. For the most part, it seems like Celebrity and most other cruise lines in general are saving all the good food and service for the extra cost restaurants.
I really enjoyed Captain Kate & was able to understand all of her announcements over the intercom. Celebrity has always had a nice library altho this one had more foreign language & nonfiction than fiction.
The taped music running in the public lounges was unbelievable considering that the average age of the cruisers on this trip was 65 to 70. The music piced in was techno dance noise that was anything but relaxing. The only people who seem to enjoy it were the crew members.
The cabin was a nice size but the furniture was getting worn. They had replaced the carpeting but did not have the flashing around the baseboard down tight, the ship listed a bit and my barefoot came down on top of it and I had my foot punctured, after mentioning it to this room attendant it was promptly fixed. The bed was fairly comfortable but the two beds did not match evenly, one side was a little bit higher than the other which made it more difficult to turn over.
