Why Norwegian Epic - we chose the Norwegian Epic, as we found a package deal on it with one of the travel agents in Dublin. Both of us have been curious about cruise holidays in recent years, so figured this was a good way time to give it a go!

Check in and embarkation - very quick, dealing with courteous helpful staff along the way - very welcoming! We checked in our main luggage on arrival at the ship and just kept our hand luggage with us - keeping a pair of shorts and tshirt and swim wear had we felt like hitting the pool, was handy in the end as others had previously advised - our main luggage was at our room later that afternoon, not as late as we thought it would have been - good organisation on Norwegian's part!

After emabarkation - we were able to use the pool area and bar and Courtyard/Garden Café buffet area as soon as we embarked on the ship. We grabbed lunch and a drink and chilled out in the Barcelona sun. The Daily paperwork which we were given on embarkation stated that the cabins are usually ready by about 1.30pm - we went with this time and decided to go check out our cabin (9246).

Mid-Ship Inside

Cabin IB

Our cabin was perfect for us. Lighting could have been a little better perhaps but that is the only negative point I can possibly think of. It was in a perfect location for accessing lifts and stairs (out door, quick left, another quick left, a right and you're at the lifts which take you up to the pool area near Spice H2O Bar or down to the entertainment floors near Manhattan Dining Room, Cascades Bar, the casino etc). It was very easy for both of us to find (even after a few drinks!). Our room steward, Eva, did a great job tidying up after us and keeping it clean and comfortable. Beds are super comfy and shower is brilliant! Good storage also, with room for cases under the beds.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

Embarkation was very quick and easy, with helpful and friendly staff.

Naples

We did our own thing here, getting off the ship and getting the Metro from nearby over to Garibaldi train station where we got the Circumvesuvius train to Pompeii for a few hours. We were back on the ship by 2 or 3pm after seeing the main parts of Pompeii. It was worth it but you would definitely need a few hours longer there in order to see and read everything! Glad we took the trip though!

Cannes

We did our own thing here again, getting on one of the many tenders that travel over and back to the port from where the ship docks at sea. Cannes was beautiful and really easy and quick to access from the ship. Old town is worth a wander as well as the usual route along the sea to see the Casino and the Carlton hotel and marina. Beautiful area!!!
