Empress of the Seas is a smaller than usual cruise ship with a much more friendly feel than large mega ships. We had 1600 guests on board so you actually saw the same people again and again giving the ship a small town feeling.
Other than rock wall and ping pong there are no sport activities on board, with that very few small children on the ship, only 24.
The fitness center was small with very few class options. Getting up at 7AM for free stretch and abdominal classes isnt practical on a cruise ship that promotes late shows and dancing. Also the gym is on top of the Viking Crown Lounge. Access was limited to the gym because of nightclub hours.
Very small cabin, 109 sqft. Easy access to elevators and lower level activities. The guy snoring next door sounded like he was in our room. Earplugs a necessity. Air conditioning a bit warm. Very tight, older decor, bed a bit soft.
