I was very excited to go on this cruise and it was a disappointment. The quality of the food and the service has gone down to a level that will make me seriously consider other cruise lines for my next cruise. I will say that we did like the room and our room steward was great. What surprised me the most was the downright surliness of some of the cruise employees. At first I really was questioning whether it was me but after talking to other guests we agreed that the crew needed to at the very least be re-trained. The food quality was also so much less that what I had come to expect from Royal Caribbean. We decided to go to Chops Grill for 1 night and while the food was good (this would have been the level of quality that I was expecting in the Windjammer dining room) and our waiter was attentive and fast the evening was kind of ruined when we overheard a waiter talking how part of the dining room smelled like "dead mouse". I do want to say that the entertainment and activities were fun. I do wish that there were more tours available for handicapped guests.
To the question - would I go again? I am not sure, I think that I will try another cruise line next time. I hear good things about Holland America - we'll see.
The cabin was great. I tend to book as far in advance as I can because I need a handicapped room and we were totally satisfied with it. The setup for both the room and the bathroom was perfect.
We live in Houston so did not really do anything in Galveston.
After paying the very expensive cab ride to the shopping area of the island, we get there and I realized that there was not way for me to even try to use my wheelchair so that was a total waste of money.
I love the fact that Mexico seem to be very attuned to the needs of handicapped people. I was happily surprised to know that they had van cabs with lifts for wheelchairs and once we got downtown all of the curbs were equiped with ramps. The shopping was great and we decided to have lunch downtown which was a good choice as the food was wonderful. This was a most prefect day.
Since were were informed by the cruise director that the shopping at the port was even worse than Roatan (found out later that this was a total lie), I did not even try to get off the ship and take the 25 minute tender ride (ridiculous).
