We have had 4 excellent cruises with Viking on their river ships and were anxious to experience their foray into ocean cruising. The Viking Sea is a gorgeous ship and the service up to Viking first class standard.

The public spaces are divided up to form intimate living room type spaces. The furnishings are varied but beautifully coordinated with a Scandinavian clean yet warm design. This is accomplished with the use of light stained wood and wrought iron grilles in stylized shapes reminiscent of Viking ships. The bar is in fact built in the clinker built style of the ships. The artwork throughout the ship highlights Scandinavian artists in paint, ceramic, handwork, photography and sculpture. Walking around the ship was like visiting an art gallery.

The lecturers on board were experts in their fields and provided informative talks on a variety of topics from climate change, to art history to women's place in Norway.

Cabin Review

Cabin Delux balcony

Every detail has been thought of in the cabin design. All have balconies and are spacious. The beds are very comfortable and a variety of pillows are available. The sitting area has a loveseat and table. The frig holds spirits, wine and water and soda and chocolates are replaced each day at not charge. The bathrooms have heated floors abd the toiletries are of good quality. There are floor lights to light your way to the bathroom at night so you don't have to disturb your partner with an overhead light. There are charging stations for electronic devices at the desk area but also at bedside. Decor is subtle and warm. The TV lets you look at your booked excursions, reservations and pending requests. You can also watch the lectures and shore briefings if you missed them live. WIFI is included. We would have spent more time in our cabin if the public spaces hadn't been so lovely!
