This was our second river cruise (both with Viking). The first cruise was 2 years ago, from Amsterdam to Budapest. At the end of that cruise, we wished we had added a couple of days at the end to stay & explore Budapest more. We loved that cruise so much, that we decided to continue the route starting in Budapest & finishing in Bucharest, with 2 days in Budapest prior to the cruise & one extra day in Bucharest at the end. Can not be happier with Viking. They handled everything top notch. On the first cruise, there was a problem with a lock in Brataslava being broken, so we could not continue on past the lock in our current ship. Viking had multiple ships on the river, on both sides of the lock. Since there was another ship heading the opposite direction from us on the other side of the lock, Viking put us up in a beautiful hotel in Vienna for the night (after completing our scheduled day excursion), treated us to a concert in a palace, then transferred our luggage to another ship on the other side of the lock so we could continue with our journey (as well as, complimentary dinner & breakfast in the hotel).

We got the same cabin on the new ship as we had on the first ship. The people from our new ship were transferred to our first ship & continued with their journey. Then, Viking gave us a very generous credit towards another cruise, which is what we used for the Budapest to Bucharest cruise. The daily excursions were wonderful, as well as, time to ourselves to explore. On our first cruise, we had a cabin on the first level, which is partially below the water. So, you have a small window just above the water line, which short people like me have to stand on the bed or jump to see out of. This cruise we had a full balcony on the main (2nd) level, which was much better. In talking to people who had a cabin on the 3rd level, they said they wouldn't recommend it because you can hear people walking on the top deck. We will definitely take another Viking river cruise in the future, & maybe one of their ocean cruises too.
