The Viking Star has a very well thought out design that is thoroughly cruiser friendly. I was impressed with the attention to detail in every part of the ship. For me, it was best crew that I have ever experienced. The entire crew from the Captain down were all personable, and without exception smiled and greeted you whenever you encountered them on deck, in the hallways or in the dining areas. I was impressed! The were there to serve you.
Our cabin attendants were excellent, taking care of us with seamless service when we were away from the cabin, and engaging us in the hall to make sure we had everything we needed.
We dined mostly in the buffet as that is our style, rather than opting for a long dinner. The food was better than Oceania which is our 'watermark' for cruise food. The daily buffet included a very good variety, with shrimp, crab legs, sushi and different specials for each day that included the wine or beer of your choice. And, of course great deserts as well. The Italian specialty restaurant was superb. My wife got a steak that was melt in your mouth tender. The Veal Marsala was also very good.
Nicely apportioned with lots of drawers for storage with plenty of closet space as well. The mini-bar included soft drinks and one each complementary mini of scotch, vodka, and rum per day. Additional bottles were one for two dollars. We enjoyed these while sitting on the balcony watching the sunset some days. Flat screen TV remote was almost impossible to use. I had them change the battery but it did not help. As mentioned, the cabin attendants did a SUPER job!
Nice scenery.
