The Rhine River is stimulating with deep history and stunning beauty around every bend - castles, cathedrals, historic towns, vineyards, brilliant sunsets, and historical landmarks. To see it all unfold turn after turn is like traveling through time - I didn't want to go below deck. Viking's ships have a basic package of amenities but a high level of finishing - high quality accommodations. This is in keeping with Viking's endeavor to be cost competitive. The staff was outstanding (perfect score). The guides they select are well informed and interesting, and the Viking bus transfers are very comfortable (important because you do spend a fair amount of time on the buses). In eight days, we traveled from Basel to Amsterdam, stopping at 11 destinations in 4 different countries. I would call that a life- changing experience. Viking's big problem is inexcusably poor internet service and virtually no place to charge an electronic device outside of your stateroom - they make jokes about how cute/quaint it is. IT ISN'T. The food on the ship was very good, but it's strange to run back to the boat to eat when you are in such rich cultural destinations. I would highly recommend this trip and I would highly recommend Viking. I will do another cruise with them. Shout out to my man, Program Director Chris on the Kvasir - you guys were exceptional.

Cabin Review

Veranda Suite

Cabin AA

The rooms are (as you would expect) smallish but still very comfortable. The furniture and fixtures are very nice. We stayed in a suite because it was our first trip but if we were to go again, we might just go with a deluxe stateroom. The balconies are only semi convenient and available chairs on the top deck were never in short supply. The cleaning staff did an excellent job, and there was complimentary fruit and water in our cabin daily. The shower was hot with good pressure. Very good accommodations overall.
