We have the recommendations of multiple friends on Viking and took the plunge. We went on our own, but met at least ten couples that were delightful and like-minded. There were more UK than US folks, so the dialog was absolutely unique and enjoyable. The service during meals was extremely attentive, thoughtful, and friendly. The quality and tying in of local culture and dishes was well thought out and presented. We knew the staff names by the end of the cruise, and they knew almost all the guest's names as well. We had an add-on excursion after the cruise to Spain, and unfortunately we were completely spoil by the Viking Cruise staff, so it was pleasant, but not with the attendant service and comradely of the cruise. More of a testament to the river versus land portions of the package. This is the epitome of a satisfying experience that we were expecting. It was an experience-based event that well repeat again with Viking in the future.
