I am glad I took a chance and sailed on the Divina despite the negative reviews. I sailed two weeks ago with my husband, mother, teenage son. This is our 5th cruise. The check in & debarkation was smooth and organized. The staff always & greeted us with a smile and few of them engaged us in (English) conversation. I found out a lot of the crew works for other US cruise lines also. The evening entertainment was spectacular & always received standing ovations. I chose Fantastica cabin #10218 which sticks out on the side of the ship & came with an extended balcony. I like to spend a lot of time in my cabin to avoid the crowd and my room was comfortable & spacious. The television had TNT, TBS, Cartoon network, BBC, CNN, ESPN channel so there was always something to watch.

The food was good. Unfortunately US passengers will not find fried chicken, green bean casserole, cornbread or carrot cake on this cruise. The food is mostly Mediterranean (fish, pasta, fruits, pizza and custard type dessert) . The Calumet buffet was crowded at certain times but if you move towards the Manitou buffet in the rear there were empty tables every where. The main dining room served small portions so we only ate there three nights. We chose the late seating dining & was assigned to the Villa Rosa which serves the 2nd seat dining. The Villa Rosa was not crowded and elegant. More people with young screaming kids opted for early dining and was assigned to the Black Crab Restaurant.

My teenage son found the ship to be boring because there aren't a lot of activities for teens. Unlike past reviews the passengers were upbeat and friendly. I met few people from different countries and no one was ever rude. In fact my mother, who is a social butterfly had a blast. Many of the passengers always greeted her by name or would invite her to sit with them. My husband enjoyed swimming in the Garden pool every day. He said it was never too crowded. He is a smoker and located close to the smoking area. I used the gym each day at 6 am. After 8 am it would be crowded. There were enough machines, weights and mats for anyone to get a good workout.

Port Reviews

Nassau

We are from the Bahamas and have family there. My aunt drove us around to purchase some of our cultural food and goods to sneak back on the ship. And my mother got a chance to visit some long time friends.

San Juan

We took a bus tour and saw San Juan and Catalina. The water was crystal blue.

St. Maarten

It's very beautiful country. We drove from the Dutch side to the French side and back. It was hotter than french fry oil we but had a nice time there.
