Explorer of the Seas Review

Ok ship, ok itinerary. As our first exposure to RC it was overall a let down.

My wife and I recently cruised on the Pacific Coastal Sep 23 - 30th out of Seattle on this ship.

Our overall impression is that this ship is nothing special. It feels small, the crew wasn't particularly friendly, there were no examples of outstanding service, the amenities were a bit less than we are accustomed to and the decor wasn't our style (how many pieces of art detailing topless women do you need?)

Our experience in the dining room was fine. The food was generally cooked well and tasted good. There were a few exceptions to that, but mainly they involved the servicing staff bringing you the wrong food or the food not being cooked anything close to how it was ordered (well done vs medium). The only example of bad food I can think of was the Lobster bisque - no one at our table liked it the slightest. The only other highlight was the Chocolate breakfast on the 25th - which they didn't actually serve after advertising it the night before... lol. I'm not joking.

Cabin K

Small but functional. Would like to be able to get around the desk/couch and walk up the side of the bed rather than have to climb over it however. Did like the shower - the best we've had on a cruise ship. Room attendant was fine (Angelo). Surprised at the lack of mints, lotions, moisturizers, etc.
