We chose this cruise to visit and find out more about Alaska. The cruise and the shore excursions achieved that ... and more! Overall the cruise experience was first class, with a great emphasis on service to guests and provision of a range of experiences and entertainment to enhance the holiday. We enjoyed the talks, quizzes and evening entertainment - it's a pity the cinema was outdoors for an Alaska cruise! We ate in the restaurant each night - the food was good, but we did have issues with some of the waiters (see below). We ate in the self-service restaurant for breakfast and lunch - the food was good after the search for it (see below).
We really enjoyed the Hubbard glacier, the walk and talk at Icy Straight and the whale-watching at Juneau. The Saxman village tour at Ketchikan was a bit disappointing ... it could be so much better if it was addressed in a more professional way (e.g. compared to Maori village visit in NZ I have been to).
Some other thoughts:
The cabin was comfortable, but there was limited space to store suitcases. The cabin was cleaned each day and prepared each evening for us going to bed. We were very happy with the service we received.
Our one criticism would be that the toilet paper in the en suite could have been of a higher standard.
Embarkation only - excellent organisation!
