This cruise was our 16th - the 12th with RCI so straight away, you'll see that we are biased towards Royal Caribbean or 'loyal2royal' and whenever they launch a new class, we usually sail during the inaugural season. We're a couple with children in their twenties, who needless to say don't come on holiday with us any longer!

We sailed from Barcelona and didn't stay before or after because we've done that on previous occasions. Embarkation was the best it's ever been. I'm not sure whether that's because we were relatively early at 12;30pm, but we didn't need to queue and were on the ship and in our stateroom - deck 7, room 270 - by 1pm.

We'd booked a balcony stateroom, it wasn't the biggest but it was enough. It was decorated in blues/silvers/greys. The bathroom was the usual pod size and didn't look any different to any of the other RCI ships, but it was fine. One negative is that on all previous ships, inc all other RCI, P & O, Celebrity and Princess our TV has always had an abundant amount of British TV and a selection of movie channels. This time, you had to pay. My husband wasn't happy all he could get was CNN when previously we've had Sky News.

Cabin Review

Ocean View Stateroom

Cabin H

I don't remember if it was an (H) stateroom, but it was fine for us. I'm pleased we didn't choose a Central Park or Boardwalk stateroom. I much prefer to look at the sea if I'm on the balcony.

Port Reviews

Barcelona

We embarked at Barcelona

Palma de Mallorca (Majorca)

We love Palma as a port. We got on the hop on hop off bus.

Marseille

Impressed by Marseille. We got on the mini train at 8 euros each. Great VFM

Florence (Livorno)

We got the bus to Lerici because we got off the ship too late to catch the train to Florence.

Naples

We asked at the ferry port for tickets to Sorrento. Instead the grumpy man behind the desk gave us tickets to Capri and didn't realise until we looked for the terminal and realised he'd given us the wrong tickets. At 79 euros, we just jumped on the ferry although we've been before so weren't bothered. We ended up chatting to a couple over a beer or two in a harbour front cafe - Cafe Augusto, I think. Be warned. I had a couple of bottles of Corona, my husband had a couple of Heinekens. It cost 32 euros. Absolutely shocking.
