We chose the Millenium for this transpacific crossing because we wanted a BTB that visited Japan. This cruise fit the bill! We were on the ship from September 2 - 29, the first leg left Vancouver September 2.
We have family that lives in the Vancouver area so we did not explore the area before embarking the ship. We did stay at a Vancouver Airport hotel and took the Skytrain to Canada Place with 2 suitcases and 2 carry-on pieces without any difficulties.
Embarkation went smoothly and despite the rather long lines it went very fast. As per usual on any cruise, the buffet was packed with new cruisers at lunchtime. We were able to share a table with another couple and enjoyed our lunch. It was shortly past 1 p.m when we were allowed to go to our stateroom.
I am so glad that we had this stateroom. It depends on the itinerary as to what type of room we book, since this was transpacific I knew we would not find a balcony useful due to weather and we didn't want to be in an inside cabin for a month. This room more than fit the bill, 3120 is in an area that was once a conference center. The rooms were created on a refurbishment; therefore our room had a gigantic floor to ceiling window. Take a look at the round windows in the dining room, that is how large our window was. It took up the whole outside wall! Being on the third floor it was close to everything including the glass elevators and the back elevators.
We have family in Vancouver so we did not take any excursions. For a first time visitor, or those without family there, be sure to explore this wonderful port city!
