We chose this cruise after reviewing reviews both on this website and Trip Advisor. I had originally booked a Regents Cruise-the lowest category available-ocean window for $15,000 but soon came to my senses. Was on line one day and came upon the Silhouette. I will admit that the size of the ship did concern me but I must say that overall never felt as if we were with 3,000 people. We originally booked the Aqua class and bumped up when we saw the price of the suite-stayed in a S2. Only problem now as they say " how do you keep them down on the farm after they seen gay parie? Loved, loved the suite and all that came with it-including the butler Nelson who was great. We had included a beverage package, tips and wifi. We also paid for the 5 specialty package. The suite also has a seperate dining room Luminare which was great-wonderful waiter by the name of Soner-they really catered to all your whims. We had our breakfast every morning on our veranda delivered by Nelson. The last morning went to the Luminare and I will admit it was a wonderful breakfast. We found all of the staff friendly and eager to please. The Martini Bar was wonderful-the bartenders quite entertaining. As far as the dining package we found all of the restaurants fantastic minus one-the Tuscan Grill-my husband and I are Italian and foodies but put that aside-we really thought the food was terrible-which we did share with both the concierge and the maitre d of the Tuscan. Not authentic at all-this one needs some work or a change in venue. On the opposite side-Qsine is fantastic and we highly recommended it as well as the Lawn Grill. As far ports-I was not terribly thrilled with Marseille nor Corsica. Other ports were great-loved Taormina,Nice and Cinque Terre. Other perks that were great with suite category was a lounge called Michaels drinks, teas and coffees served plus fridges with complimentaly beer, waters, soft drinks.
As far as Ilounge-I went to use computer and found they were all MACs which I can't get use to at all. Beautifully appointed ship-which was the main attraction for me. I highly recommend this cruise and hope that I can travel on it another time
Room was perfect-it was a suite so it was spacious-more closet space than I had ever seen, full size bathroom.. Butler Nelson great
Loved Taormina-so beautiful and quaint
Did not like this stop at all. Did not plan a formal excusion and found city to be uninteresting-I spoke to other passengers that said that the reason they use this port is a gateway to Provence, Aix-which if I ever have this port again, I would do
Took the train t0 Cinque Terre and visited 4 of the 5 towns. An experience people shouldn't miss but very taxing to some-many steps and hills but lovely.
