We booked this cruise almost 23 months before sailing, as the ship was being repositioned to Montreal for a Charter. We paid for an inside cabin, but were upgraded to a V2 balcony cabin. Although we rarely used the balcony due to poor weather on the Atlantic crossing, it was useful for taking early morning photos when we arrived in port.
The weather in all ports of call was good, more than be said for mid Atlantic. The Captain took a south west course towards the Azores, to avoid Tropical Storm Ian. This he did successfully, but had to go through the tail of the storm before arriving in St John's Newfoundland.
I am Lactose Intolerant and was well catered for. I pre ordered my food the night before and the menu was adapted accordingly, except for sweets, which could not be pre ordered. Eventually, after speaking to the Maitre'D, I was made 'specials.'
We were sold the cabin as a midships. In my opinion mid ships is between forward and aft lifts. 6069 is 8 cabins aft of the aft lifts. The bed was large and comfortable, but the bathroom was small, the shower was even smaller. There is no where to hang washing to dry, but we were told that there were retractable washing lines on board, it was a matter of fixing them. On a stormy night the desk cupboard doors opened and wouldn't stay shut. These were repaired quickly once maintenance were called. A ceiling light in the bathroom fell out, but again this was fixed very quickly.
