Chose the cruise for the ports. Made it to Anchorage without any issues, but then Captain said two storms coming in, so skipped three ports and a glacier to get out ahead of the storm. Skagway and another glacier substituted. Headed to Skagway to ride out the storm, which never materialized, only sprinkles in Skagway and no rough seas as predicted of 86 mph winds and 25' seas. Before we left Skagway, announcement of medical emergency aboard, had to rendezvous with Coast Guard few hours after leaving Skagway. Added glacier missed. Headed straight to Victoria. Each passenger was given a $50 shipboard credit, and a future cruise credit of 10% of original base fare.

Since it's a smaller ship, limited spaces for first seating of assigned dining. Late dining starts 7:45pm, main course arrives 45-60 minutes later. Crew very friendly and happy, not like normal bickering you see. SHARPS container for disposal of diabetic testing supplies and used needles appeared to be reused. The label on the container had another date and cabin # scratched off, and obvious signs that the container had been pried open, emptied and given to me. At time of booking, I had requested a refrigerator to store my insulin, and confirmed it the day prior to sailing. No refrigerator in the room, and was told by the cabin steward to fight it out with the front desk. Headed to the front desk, and after they made a few phone calls, fortunately they were able to find the last one, and delivered it promptly. Once I got it, when the cabin steward vacuumed the room, he would unplug it to plug in the vacuum, then would forget the plug the fridge back in.

Embarkation and disembarkation were handled very smoothly. Cabin directly under the galley, absolutely no sleep. Front desk in a frenzy when passengers asking for refund of port charges for missed ports. Heard multiple answers, from I don't know, to you weren't charged port charges for those ports to begin with. Statement delivered on disembarkation day showed the port charges refunded. Considering the issues, we did have a nice time. But we were surprised at the issues the crew were having, since they do the same job every day. The job doesn't change, only the faces of the passengers. HAL's shore excursions are really pricey. Fortunately we were able to everything on our own, for a much lower cost.

Cabin Review

Lanai Ocean-View Stateroom

Cabin CA

Worst location for sleeping. Cabin is directly under the galley, and constant loud noises until 11:30pm, then starts back again at 4:00am. Ceiling insulation needs to be added for all the cabins in this area.
