Embarkation was a breeze. We arrived at the port at 10:30 am and were in the Windjammer at 11:00. We have sailed on many of the RCI ships and have never had a cruise we didn't like. The Explorer was no exception.

We skipped the MDR and had all lunches and dinners in the Windjammer. We found the food to be somewhat better quality than on previous cruises and the selection was great. Apparently, the hotel manager changed recently which probably had something to do with it.

The skating show, especially with the hoops skater, was amazing. Other shows were good.

Promenade Stateroom

Cabin PR

This was our first time in a promenade room and it was just fine. Even on deck 6, it was not noisy at night. Nicely situated right above the Promenade Cafe and close to the elevator and stairs.

Port Reviews

Seattle

We spent one night pre-cruise in Seattle at the Travelodge by the Space Needle. Nothing fancy but perfect in terms of price and location. We went to the gorgeous Chihuly Glass Gardens, the Space Needle, Pike Market and walked around the city. Heartily recommend 5 Points Cafe for an enormous, tasty and reasonably-priced meal.
