Cabin: Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Three adult couples sailed on NCL's Getaway out of Miami. Embarkation was a bit tedious, with long lines, but eventually we got onboard and to our cabin. Two couples of our party had not sailed in a about 10 years, and we were pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness, the decor (contemporary) and especially at the constantly-upbeat, friendly demeanor of every single staff member we encountered throughout our trip!

We had a mid-ship balcony cabin on Deck 10--very much as anticipated, with a comfortable bed and efficient bathroom. Balcony was small, as advertised, but adequate for two people to enjoy the sunset over the ocean with a drink in hand. Our cabin steward Ray (Reynauld) was fabulous, was lavish with service, made sure my wife had ice every day, left towel "animals" on our bed every evening and in short, exceeded our expectations.

We had a Gourmet Dinner package, and with one exception, found the restaurants to be just wonderful. Cagney's, and Moderno were terrific, Ocean Blue as expected, and the only disappointment was a poorly tasting meal and service at La Cucina. The buffet was excellent in their variety of foods, whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner--and we tried all three. A real treat, however, was the sit-down breakfasts at Taste and Savor--elegant is the word that best describes both venues. Again, the staff was well trained and efficient, no request was refused and we loved it.
