Just back from our first Celebrity Cruise onboard the Constellation. We were travelling with our 6 year old son on 11 Night Eastern Mediterranean Cruise. Cannot fault the cruise at all. Everything was above and beyond our expectations. Food was all excellent. Dining room experience wonderful. Staff were all so friendly and remembered us all by name. Fun Factory was amazing our son went everyday even 3 times a day on sea days. Fun Factory staff amazing. They were only a total of 23 children onboard our cruise. The Fun Factory had only 2-8 children in total at each session, which was great for our son who prefers small groups I think that's why he enjoyed it so much alot of one on one attention. We travelled 8-20 September. However I heard that in August there was 250 and 500 children onboard for those cruises. As our cruise was when all UK/USA schools just started back so not many children were onboard so that worked out to our advantage. We are from Australia and currently our Spring school holidays. We had the classic beverage package which was wonderful it was a free perk when we booked so it great for us we didn't see the need to upgrade to the premium package. If anyone has any questions please let me know I would be happy to answer them. I kept all the Fun Factory Daily programs aswell as our Celebrity Dailes. Fantastic cruise.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2C

Cabin 2C

We had one of the sweet sixteen cabins and can confirm that our cabin had the extended balcony. Double the size of normal cabin. We were the last cabin with the extended balcony so this gave us extra privacy from the cabin on our right.

Port Reviews

Rome (Civitavecchia)

We had 3 nights in Rome before our cruise. I loved Rome and there is plenty to see and do. I was amazed at the size of all the monuments and landmarks. A city with so much history.

Positano (Amalfi)

Our tour guide was fantastic!!! His name was Vincenzo and he was so passionate about his country and his knowledge was fantastic we learnt so much. We didn't have alot of time in Capri or Sorrento. But it was fine for our first visit. However if you wanted to see more I would suggest doing the full day on Capri if you wanted to visit the Blue Cave etc as we only had time in one location which was enough time for sightseeing, soviener shopping and morning tea in a cafe before we had to catch boat over to Sorrento. There we had a delicious lunch which was included then time for shopping before our visit to Pompeii, the visit to Pompeii was sufficient time to fit everything in. The tour guide absolutely made this trip. We had a big but great day.

Santorini

On arrival we took the speed boat across to Oia.It cost 20euro per person for speed boat across, but to the top, bus back to Fira. This worked out great as when we arrived in Oia it was not crowded at all!!! It was so lovely pretty clean. I found that the shops here had nicer magnets and pictures for sale than in Fira. So if you go here first and see something you like buy it. As I regret not buying a picture I saw thinking I would think the same in Fira so leave my shopping until later. Which was not the case. When we arrived in Fira it was so crowded and filled with shop after shop selling similar things. So I definitely enjoyed Oia more. Also in Oia I did the Fish Spa pedicure which was only 10euro for 10 mins was a strange but fun experience if you haven't done so before. The cable car line was huge so on our return we ended up walking the stairs. I would strongly suggest wearing joggers as the stairs are slippery in parts I saw 3 people fall on the way down. We had to dodge plenty of donkey poo but it wasn't so bad even our 6 year old managed the walk down. A lot of older people were struggling though with the walk down having to stop and have rest breaks

Mykonos

Here we arranged our own hotel day pass. I had read on previous boards about getting a day pass to St Johns Resort. I booked directly with them before we left via email from their website. It cost us 70euro per person. Which included pick up from the port, use of the pools, beach, towels, bathrooms and a 4 course lunch with one drink included. Then the return transport either straight to the ship or downtown. This made our day so enjoyable. It was a 5 star resort with infinity pool!!! The beach area were mainly sunbeds and a small beach sand area, also with a lovely jetty you could jump off to swim in the ocean. Our lunch was so filling huge serves of food. Our visit was very relaxing. We got dropped back to downtown area where we did some shopping and found the famous windmills and little Venice area. Celebrity had a free shuttle bus back to the ship. But we ended up catching a boat for 2euro as when we finished the boat was right there and we avoided having a long walk back to the bus. So this was quicker and easier for us.

Zadar

This was good experience seeing the waterfalls, however we did not have any local currency on us as they do not use Euros here. So this made the experience difficult as we couldn't buy a drink or souvenir from the locals. We found one restaurant that took credit card so luckily we bought lunch and drinks then otherwise our time at the waterfalls would of been wasted. As you are given time there for swimming and shopping and lunch but without local currency this ruined the experience a little. On our return we were able to use the ship shuttle bus for free as we had taken a shore excursion (otherwise it was 12euro pp) so we took the shuttle into downtown Zadar which was a lovely modern city with still some old ruins and buildings around. However again you needed local currency to shop at market stalls and the like.

Koper

We booked our own excursion with a local operator to visit the Postjana Caves. This trip was amazing the caves are the largest in Europe. We all thoroughly enjoyed this experience. Be prepared and come dressed in warm clothing as year round it is 10degrees inside the cave. You can however hire warm cloaks for 3 euro per person to stay warm. You travel into the cave on a small train then you get to walk about 1 1/2 kms with a tour guide then return on the train again at the end. We got dropped back into town but it was raining on our return so we only stayed long enough to have lunch and then walked back a short 5-10 minute walk to the ship. Also it was a Sunday and hardly anything was open in town. So beware of this and take a tour for the day otherwise it would of been boring rainy day without anything to do if we had not booked our tour.

Kotor

We took a local taxi for 50euro that drove us to the Lady of the Rock church area Perast. We took a local boat over to the island and had a quick look around the church and very small museum. The boat cost us 10euro return for the 3 of us. We had a small amount of time to walk the street in Perast. Then stopped on the way back for some photo opportunities. Then we had lunch back in Kotor Old Town which is only a 5 min walk from the ship. There was a park next to the port and for 1euro our son got to play in a jumping castle and trampoline set up which he loved. We did this and visited a local shopping centre before returning to the ship. Everything was easily assessed on foot if you choose to just stay in the Old town for the day and do your own thing quite easy to be done. Food was so cheap too.

Athens (Piraeus)

We did the hop on hop off bus which were all lined up waiting at the cruise ship you just paid direct and jumped on and off you went. This worked out well for us to get around and see abit of the area. We visited the New Acropolis muesum, we didn't go up the Acropolis and Pantheon as the line up was huge by the time we got there. So go there first if you want to visit. We went shopping and had a lovely lunch in a cafe. Before doing a full loop on the hop on hop off bus and back to the ship.
