Cruising has definitely changed over the last 20-30 years and not for the better. Activities on board are virtually non existent. Everything is geared toward getting you pay extra; whether it's overpriced drinks, gambling or insanely overpriced shore excursions and so called specialty restaurants. Food quality in the main dining room varied greatly from night to night. While a few entrees such as prime rib, and lobster were excellent, many many other offerings were uneatable. As for the hot buffet, forget about it. I will say, that the pizza, burgers and ice cream were actually pretty good. The itinerary looks great on paper, but in many instances getting from the port to any place really interesting is usually going to cost you. The ships crew was excellent and did their best to be accommodating and provide good service, especially considering what they had to work with. In the future, I'm going to stick to river cruising.
