We chose this cruise for the destinations, particularly St. Petersburg which didn't disappoint. We had 2 days there and did the 2 day deluxe tour with SPB tours and the evening tour which was really good, despite the rain! We paid for 3 x Speciality restaurant meals but wish we hadn't bothered. The Teppenyaki which was excellent on our first cruise on the Dawn was disappointing on the Star, think due to being much smaller space and just not so entertaining and the food served was not as nice as our first experience.
We found one of the main dining rooms, think it was the Venetian to be good especially if we went with the waiter's recommendations. We also enjoyed the Garden Cafe although prefer being seated and having waiter service.
Our outside cabin was fine, we had a lovely stateroom attendant, Dewa. We loved the 5 o'clock Somewhere bar and tried out all the bars, we think!

Copenhagen
We stayed 2 nights in Copenhagen prior to the cruise and was really worth while. Copenhagen was lovely, if expensive! We stayed a short walk from the city centre and was good to be able to walk. We took the HOHO bus tour which was very good and used on the way back instead of a taxi back to the airport and sitting around at the airport for hours. Instead we had some lunch at a lovely cafe near the main boarding point for the tour and we were able to take our bags on board and enjoy seeing some more of Copenhagen and then transferring to the airport (free shuttle)
Tallinn
We did the free (donation given) 2 hour walking tour from the Tourist office which was great, really enjoyable and full of interesting facts. Tallin is a beautiful city and we very much enjoyed it.
Helsinki
We bought tickets for the HOHO Red bus tours in Copenhagen, Tallin, Stockholm and Helsinki. If you show your previous ticket, you get a discount off the next tour and the 4th tour free! Copenhagen was the most efficient and better organised tours though. We should have planned a bit better and we could have fitted in more.
Stockholm
Used the HOHO red bus tour again. Beautiful place. Really enjoyed.
