We were looking for a cruise to celebrate a birthday and introduce our kids to cruising. I found Enchantment's 4-night itinerary to be a great value and the interior rooms were surprisingly spacious, but the cruise offered nothing exceptional in terms of service or dining.
Service makes a cruise and Enchantment was lacking in this area. To be clear, if you track someone down and ask them for something, they'll do it. It simply seems like a necessary transaction, though; All business. In fact, I was never offered a beverage unless I had already tipped the bartender over and above the gratuities included with my prepaid Deluxe drink package. I'm not opposed to extra gratuity for exceptional service, but it seemed like smiles cost $1-$2. Even with a tip, few made small talk- let alone carried on a conversation. They placed your drink down, collected a signature, and walked away.
Windjammer Cafe staff were attentive to clearing and cleaning tables as turnover was necessary. Every visit felt like we were being rushed. Food variety existed, but was similar each day and of average taste.
We opened the door to find a spacious cabin with two twin beds, a decent sized bathroom, and plenty of storage space in the closet and dresser. After the pullman bed was dropped, there was still plenty of room for 1 adult and 2 kids. Unfortunately, the bass vibration from a nearby venue persisted until about midnight. Kids' program ended at 10PM and they found it difficult to sleep until after the music stopped. If you're a light sleeper or need kids in bed before midnight, Enchantment cabin 3593 isn't the ideal room.
We drove and parked at the Port of Miami parking garage adjacent to the terminal. Parking cost $80 for the 4-night cruise, but we figured it was easiest with 2 adults, 4 kids, and a bunch of luggage. I would have been happy if my new vehicle didn't have scrapes and dings on the side after the cruise was over. Park at your own risk!
