We chose this cruise after many years waiting to sail to Canada on such a great itinerary. Celebrity offered an appealing two-week trip that stopped in several enticing New England ports along the way, with PEI, Quebec City and Nova Scotia in week two. We had not sailed Celebrity before but took a chance and were not disappointed. Other than being chased by TS Hermine up the coast, leading to a lot of fog and some rough seas early on, overall, a trip that I would recommend on the refurbished and very pleasant Summit. The cabin was comfortable and well attended, the food was overall enjoyable with a wonderful wait staff in the main dining room, with only one or two exceptions, the entertainment was first rate, including an energetic and truly talented main cast of singers and dancers whose stamina amazed me! Their costumes and theatre were first rate as well. My initial impression was "too much selling going on" but either I got used to it or it slacked off as we went along. Other than that, we had a very positive experience.
Being on deck 2, we got on and off at port very easily, and were convenient to deck 3 (main foyer, guest services, etc.) and deck 4 (theatre and restaurants) as well as being midship, handy to elevators. Plenty of storage space, a nice shower, relatively comfy bed and a small sofa bed that acted as a mini-loveseat with a table and desk. As in most cabins, we were glad we brought an extension cord, but really, a decent inside cabin with a good tv that provided views of the outside to check weather conditions before heading out. One thing that was 'missing' were the usual towel animals - not a big deal to us, but some might have been disappointed. We enjoyed our home away from home (and those nightly chocolates!)
There's not much to do here, though a few people took excursions and enjoyed getting out and about. There's a building by the pier for shopping and free wi-fi, so we walked around, checked email, took a walk and then went back to enjoy the ship.
This was a return to Halifax and we'd done the usual tours before (Peggy's Cove was very busy that day, as there were two other ships in port with ours). We walked around some and then back on the ship to enjoy the activities and sunshine!
We rode a bus from central PA to the pier. We were leaving early due to a storm coming at us (Hermine), having been contacted by the cruise line and bus company. Everything went well and we got ahead of the storm, though there was still some rockin' and rollin' for our first sea day.
