We were with a church group of 19 people. We left home about 7:00 the morning of sailing, for a 3.5 hr. drive to Galveston. Arrived at our parking lot at 10:30 and waited a little while for our shuttle to take us to the terminal. Our assigned check-in time was 11:00-11:30 and we were right on time. There were lines but they moved right along. New policy of no bottled sodas or water, only canned & limit of 12 cans per person, and they were checking that carefully at the check-in/security area. Once check-in was complete and we were given a “zone” number, we were ushered to a huge waiting area up stairs, where they called you to board by “zone”. Zones numbers were called about every 5 minutes. They appeared to be very strict about checking boarding passes with zone numbers during this process and would not allow anyone to board until their zone number was called. The Carnival terminal has been totally remodeled and is quite spacious, well laid out & very nice. We boarded the ship on Deck 3. Since it wasn’t 1:30 yet, we had to take our carry-ons with us to Deck 9 to the Lido Buffet. Very nice lay-out, lots of different areas with various types of foods at each. Plenty of seating inside as well as out.

The in-room safe is the kind you have to slide a credit card to open & close (as opposed to a code). If we had known this ahead of time we would have brought & used a “store card” like Kroger, CVS, Walgreens, etc., instead of an actual credit card. Any kind of card with a magnetic strip would have worked I guess…can NOT use your room card. Of course, you have to keep whichever card you use, in a convenient & available place to open your safe at any time. There was ONE electrical outlet in the entire cabin and not one in the bathroom. The AC all around the ship as well as in our cabin worked very well. If you are cold-natured, you will definitely want to bring a light jacket or wrap of some kind on this ship.

TV in the cabins offers all 3 (U.S.) major networks as well as CNN, cartoons and a few other choices. I never found a movie that was appealing at all, but you could RENT a pay-per-view movie. Cabins have interactive TV where you can check your account, make reservations, check menus, etc.

Cabin 4F

Very standard typical inside cabin. Comfortable, more than sufficient storage for 2 people. A few doors down from the elevator lobby & was noisy sometimes when groups of people were exiting. Could sometimes faintly hear people in cabin next door. AC worked great, ONE electrical outlet, large bleach stain/spot on carpet, stained & almost broken lamp shade; could use a good overhaul.
